Kristen Harris - fiddle, vocals Ben Riesser - banjo Tyson Graham - bass (check out Tyson Graham Pottery!) Ashley Carder - guitar We have finally finished our new old time string band album, featuring a whole mess of old tunes from Vernon Riddle, and many more. Check !it out on here! Kristen, Tyson, Ashley, and Ben have been performing together at festivals and with bands of various formations for the past 7-9 years. Over the past decade, we have gathered quite a collection of unique tunes as well as some old favorites. Since we have never all lived in the same town, it has been hard to get together and record, but in January of 2020, we finally got together by the fireside and recorded this fun album. We are so excited for you to hear it! |

BIO Kristen Harris is a multi-genre fiddler from Columbia, South Carolina. She is classically trained on violin, holds both bachelors and masters degrees in music education, and is also trained and registered as a teacher in the Suzuki method. Kristen began to play old time fiddle when attending fiddlers’ conventions when she was in high school, and became a true addict when living in Eugene, OR as a college student, and learned from the fantastic oldtime community there and around the Pacific NW. Since then, she has become an accomplished old time fiddler, and is a two-time South Carolina State Fiddling Champion (2013 and 2019). Kristen performs regularly in the Southeast with a multitude of bands, and has toured across the United States and the UK with the Asheville, NC-based roots band Resonant Rogues. She also specializes in gypsy jazz and swing. The Borger Wiggle is a South Carolina-based band featuring the talents of fiddler Kristen Harris, banjo player Ben Riesser, and guitarist Tyson Graham. The three, all multi-instrumentalists, come from a wide range of musical backgrounds and influences, but formed a deep connection through their love of Appalachian old time stringband music. Kristen met Ben at the 2012 Hoppin’ John Fiddlers Convention in North Carolina, and the two immediately found that Ben’s syncopated and innovative banjo lines perfectly complement Kristen’s rhythmic, dynamic fiddling style. Along with Tyson’s solid guitar playing, their sound is lively, grooving and danceable. The band is set to release their debut album in early 2020 with regionally-renowned old time fiddler, guitarist, and folklorist Ashley Carder. The project will feature tunes that Ashley collected from the late South Carolina fiddler Vernon Riddle, as well as some of the band’s old favorites. |
